English Language Arts (ELA)
(serving grades 3-5)
The ELA Celtic Academy provides students with an enriched and engaging learning environment designed to extend the standards-based curriculum taught in the general education classroom. Through chapter book studies, informational texts, research projects, and collaborative learning experiences, students strengthen their reading comprehension, critical thinking, and communication skills. Students explore literature while making meaningful connections to science, social studies, current events, and other real-world topics.
Writing instruction is designed to develop students' ability to communicate effectively for a variety of purposes and audiences. Through a structured writing process, students learn to plan, draft, revise, edit, and publish their work while strengthening their use of evidence, organization, and elaboration. Opportunities for discussion, presentations, technology integration, and collaborative learning help students grow as confident readers, writers, and communicators.
Grounded in our Catholic faith, students are encouraged to use their voices and talents with purpose, integrity, and compassion. As they grow academically, they also learn the importance of empathy, thoughtful communication, and using their knowledge to positively impact others.
St. Joseph Calasanz Resource Program
Inspired by the charism of Saint Joseph Calasanz and his belief that every child deserves an education that nurtures their God-given potential, the St. Joseph Calasanz Resource Program provides individualized academic support in a small-group setting. Language Arts and Mathematics instruction is tailored to each student's unique needs, learning style, and accommodations while maintaining alignment with the standards, curriculum and learning goals of the general education classroom.
Through targeted instruction, personalized guidance, and a pace that promotes understanding and confidence, students receive the support they need to grow academically and develop greater independence. Rooted in the Catholic belief that every child is known, valued, and capable of success, the program seeks to meet students where they are, strengthen their skills, and empower them to reach their full potential academically, socially, and spiritually.
